Fun With Graphics
Students use a variety of
image and graphics programs
in the computer lab. In the
activities below, students
learn about image types such
as .jpg and .png. Students
use the Paint.NET image
editor to demonstrate .png
image type's value in
creating tranparent areas
such as the removal of
backgrounds and unwanted
portions of pictures.

Paint.NET and GIF animator
Students learn to make simple
animations using Paint.NET to
create the blocks and letters,
and use a simple GIF animator
program to create the 'blinking'
effect. Students learn about
different image types such as
.jpg, .png and .gif. and then
demonstrate how gif's can be
used to create animations like
the one below.
Stick Figure Animation
Students create more advanced
animations using Pivot Stick
Figure Animator. Students create
multiple images - "frames" of
their own design to create short
animated movies.
Exploring Creativity using PhotoFiltre Image Program
PhotoFiltre is a digital image editor and painting program. It is simple and
intuitive to use, and has an easy learning curve.
Students create original
works of art in the style of Andy Warhol.
Students resize and crop their own image, then
use a variety of painting tools to create a unique image.
The image is then duplicated, recolored and reassembled to create four images.
Showing What You've Learned Students learn how to label images to create diagrams and educational illustrations.
KidPix KidPix is a fantastic drawing and graphic
arts program for kids.
It is packed with fun drawing tools,
animations and easy to use tools. This is a class favorite.
Using Kid Pix, students in kindergarten and first grade
trace their hands on the screen using the pencil tool. Then
they use the paint bucket and wacky paint brush to decorate
their turkeys.
Microsoft Photo Editor
Students use Microsoft Photo Editor to rotate, crop, resize,
lighten, change resolution, apply special effects, change file
format of images and more.
