MOUSE & KEYBOARDING

How to hold the mouse:
Place the heel of your palm on the table and rest your index and middle fingers lightly on the mouse buttons as shown.

"Clicking" and "double clicking" are done with the index finger on the left button.

"Right clicking" is done with the middle finger on the right button. Scrolling with the scroll wheel can be done with either finger. Good typing comes from good technique and proper hand positioning on the keyboard. Illustrated below are the starting finger positions for typing called the "Home Row".

We use the Type to Learn Typing Program

Students learn keyboard skills while reinforcing spelling, grammar, composition and punctuation skills. Some of the key lessons students learn are:

  • Proper posture

  • Home row / proper hand position

  • Correct finger selection for keyboard,

  • Practice games

  • Speed building exercises

  • Automatic review of missed keys

This graphic shows the proper position of the fingers on the keyboard.
