Castlebay Lane Elementary is a very special place. What makes is so extraordinary is…You! As usual, our families have clocked an unprecedented number of volunteer hours, our API scores continue to soar, and we are able to provide enrichment for our children. None of these accomplishments would be possible without the dedicated efforts of our students, staff and administration, community sponsors and YOU, our school’s families.

In the past 2 years, Castlebay:

  • Was awarded the coveted title “California Distinguished School” from the California Department of Education

  • Implemented a Physical Education Program for grades K-5

  • Received 36 new computers from the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council

Castlebay Does Not Qualify for Title 1 Funding
Achieving and Sustaining Excellence requires Time and Money. This year we have set our Just Think Campaign goal at $80,000. Did you know that Castlebay does not qualify for Title 1 Funding, the federal program of monetary incentives?

Our children are privileged to be getting such a strong education, and we parents must understand it’s up to us to provide at least the $150,000 of Title 1 funding we do not receive. Title 1 funding could have paid for:

  • Staffed computer lab

  • Librarian

  • Campus nurse or

  • Art, music or PE instruction

Only with your financial support and volunteer hours can we continue to provide outstanding enrichment for our children.

Everyone’s participation in our fundraisers throughout the year is crucial to keeping Castlebay’s staff and enrichment programs fully funded. Also, no matter what your interest, skills or schedule, there is a volunteer position waiting for you.

Current programs funded by your giving:

  • A state-of-the-art Computer Lab

  • A full-time Computer lab instructor

  • A Physical Education Program for K-5

  • Music Instruction for K-5 half the year

  • Art Instruction for K-5 half the year

  • Full-Time Librarian

  • 1 Teacher Assistant

  • Work Room Manager

Let’s reach for the Stars! Imagine if our children could…

  • Participate in a Physical Education Program twice a week

  • Receive Art Instruction ALL year long

  • Receive Music Instruction ALL year long

  • Have a Nurse on campus Full-Time

  • Have an Assistant for every grade

To succeed we need 100% participation in the Just Think Campaign. We reached a record 40% participation rate last year, but we need to do better! Once again we are recommending that each family make an annual, tax-deductible donation of $500 per family (but please remember that your participation of any amount is welcomed).

The recommended gift per family represents a cost of just $1.37 a day to you. An excellent investment when you consider the return: Enriching your child’s education! We urge you to consider carefully and give as generously as you can. Castlebay’s continued success depends on your participation. THE MORE WE RAISE, THE MORE WE CAN ACCOMPLISH. It’s that simple.

Double your Funds!
Many employers MATCH their employee’s charitable contributions – ask your company’s HR department.
